COVID-19 Prevalence Estimates for the State of Ohio

Published:

This project estimated the prevalence of current and past COVID-19 among adults in the state of Ohio during a period when timely, population-based evidence was urgently needed for public health decision-making.

The work combined survey design, testing data, and statistical modeling to produce statewide prevalence estimates that accounted for uncertainty, sparse positives, and the realities of imperfect diagnostics in a rapidly evolving pandemic context.

Why it mattered

In the early pandemic period, policymakers needed more than case counts to understand disease burden. This project helped provide population-level prevalence evidence for Ohio adults, supporting a more grounded picture of both active and past infection.
